Weekend: Doppio appuntamento a Wellington
A Wellington, Florida, un CDI3* ed un CDI5* animano il fine settimana di dressage internazionale.
Un fine settimana internazionale monopolizzato dall’Adequan Global Dressage Festival, dove sono andati in scena due interessanti CDI, a cominciare dal 3* conquistato fin dal Grand Prix di apertura dalla statunitense Charlotte Jorst in sella allo stallone olandese Kastel’s Nintendo.
E’ stata infatti Charlotte Jorst a far registrare il punteggio migliore nel Grand Prix di qualificazione nel quale, con un buonissino 71.300% ha potuto lasciare alle proprie spalle avversari insidiosi, non solo sulla carta. Al secondo posto, in fatti, la britannica Suzan Pape su Harmony’s Don Noblesse non chiude molto lontano, lasciando l’arena con 70.880%, anticipando a sua volta di molto poco Dawn White-O’connor su Legolas 92, terza con 70.560%.
Nell’appuntamento con il Grand Prix Special di giovedì, a svettare ci pensa un altro binomio di casa. Chase Hickok su Sagacious HF chiude la riprasa davanti a tutti con 71.667%. Piazza d’onore per la canadese Megan Lane in sella a San D’or con 70.647%, seguita dalla britannica Suzan Pape su Harmony’s Don Noblesse con 70.608%.
Charlotte Jorst e Kastel’s Nintendo tornano in arena venerdì per vincere la finale Freestyle, dove concludono con il 73.075%. A contendersi il secondo ed il terzo posto, in un testa a testa sul filo di lana, la statunitense Olivia LaGoy-Weltz su Lonoir e la connazionale Dawn White-O’connor in sella a Legolas 92. I due binomi chiudono vicinissimi tra loro, rispettivamente al secondo posto con 72.950% ed in terza posizione con 72.850%.
Quasi in parallelo al 3*, un CDI5* positivamente segnato dalle grandi prove dei protagonisti, con davanti a tutti in assoluto la statunitense e madaglia di bronzo alle passate Olimpiadi di Rio, Laura Graves in sella ad un Verdades costantemente in crescita.
Un esordio in gara col botto, sfondando l’80%, per Laura Graves e Verdades, che grazie al punteggio finale di 80.080% conquistano una vetta che resterà irraggiungibile per tutte le altre combinazioni in gara. Secondo posto, con 73.820%, per il connazionale Steffen Peters in sella a Rosamunde, seguiti da molto vicino dalla svedese Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven che, su Paridon Magi, lascia l’arena con 73.700%.
Altra ripresa, altro eccellente punteggio per la combinazione Graves-Verdades. Il binomio chiude un Freestyle spettacolare con 82.000% netto che di fatto consegna loro la seconda vittoria consecutiva. Alle spalle di Laura Graves, la sevedese Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven su Paridon Magi, con 77.450% soffia il secondo posto a Steffen Peters su Rosamunde, che si deve così accontentare del bronzo con 77.325%.
Con la ripresa Grand Prix Special, si conclude l’intenso fine settimana di Wellington. Sopo il quinto posto ottenuto nel Grand Prix di apertura, Kasey Perry-Glass e Goerklintgaards Dublet, grazie al punteggio di 73.569%, fanno propria una ripresa combattuta fino alla fine. In seconda posizione, dietro di poco più di tre decimi, Shelly Francis su Doktor con 73.255%, seguiti in terza posizione da Lisa Wilcox in sella a Galant con 72.196%.
